Karnatak State Forest Industries Corporation Limited (KSFIC) is a Government of Karnataka undertaking established in March 1973. It is a B2B company for procurements and B2C company for sales/services. Initial assets like land and buildings, saw mills, human resources etc., were transferred from the Karnataka Forest Department. Principal objective of forming KSFIC was to package the commercial activities of the Karnataka Forest Department into corporate activity so that they can be carried out more efficiently with the aid of modern technology. Supporting and encouraging wood based industries, creating employment opportunities and employing the government assets more productively were the other important objectives. See the Memorandum of Association for more on this. Mysore Match company, a private one was taken over by KSFIC in the year 1977. It is being integrated with the parent company.

News and Events

  • Promotions and training to subordinate staff in KSFIC: For the first time in its history, subordinate staff are being promoted on time. Group D employees, Typists, Field Assistants and Assistant Managers who are qualified for promotion have been cleared for promotion. All the office staff will be deputed for a short refresher course on office procedure at FTATI of Karnataka Forest Department at Kadugodi in Bengaluru. After the training, they will be tested through a written exam followed by a viva. Training will commence from 16th April and will be completed by 11th May. Those who pass both with 50% of marks will be issued the promotion orders and placed in the next higher cadre for one year on officiating. If they complete the officiating period successfully, then their promotion will be confirmed and they will be substantively appointed to their posts.
  • Compassionate appointments: Of the thirteen applications for compassionate appointment, 6 candidates were found eligible for appointment as Assistants after their certificates were verified and they were subjected to computer literacy tests. Rest of the applications have been rejected. They have been drafted for induction training which consists of three phases. In the first phase, they will be attached to the Divisional Offices for a period of two weeks from 1st April. Then they will go for three weeks of class room training along with the office staff who are being promoted at FTATI, Kadugodi, Bengaluru. In the last phase, they will get hands on training in the Head Office for two week. At the end of the training, they will be subjected to written test and viva. Those who succeed with at least 50% of marks will be issued appointment orders. They will be on probation for a period of two years as the probation rules. If their performance is satisfactory, they will be confirmed in the service as Junior Assistants for office work.
